This article discusses historical and contemporary relations between Jews, Israel, and Central Europe, explaining how historical issues need to be settled by recognizing each other's historical experience and suffering along with comprehending how much we have in common today. Dealing with Soviet aggression and oppression against the peoples of Central and Eastern Europe is in no way contradictory to acknowledging the Holocaust and the role of local collaborators in those events.
